Dreaming Big in MAUI with Iao Intermediate School

Aloha Dreamboard was presented with the opportunity to fly to Maui last week and teach the keiki (kids) of Iao Intermediate School about the art of Dreaming BIG! Mahalo Iao Schools for the warm welcome.

Eighth grade Career and Family Arts teacher, Jo-Ann Yap, put her manifestation power to use and brought us over to share our knowledge with her students. Dream Coach, Tiare Thomas, started the first period of the day with a short vocabulary lesson on

man·i·fest·ing

(the ability to attract what you desire into your life).

Which provoked the bright eighth graders to deeply ponder on what they want to attract in their lives. For some students it was a difficult task to believe that they could one day live their dreams.

Tiare repeated throughout each class, "The bigger the dream, The higher your grade!" as she encouraged the students to step out of their comfort zone. There were no limits in class that day, it was about empowering the youth to believe in themselves and follow their dreams.

Thomas went over nine different areas that are important in life, including Health & Wellness, Career, Skills & Knowledge, and more. Students listed down and found images to represent their desires and dreams for each category. By the end of the second day of class, each student had created a solid foundation for their dreamboards.

We enjoyed a full two days of teaching six classes, each day, with a total of 150 eighth grade students. Humbled by the fact that this was our first outer island trip, we gave all the energy we had to the students. By the end of the week we left with giant smiles and a slight buzz left over from the passion of the kids. We are so grateful to have had this experience to connect with the wonderful students at Iao Intermediate. And we are hoping to make more appearances in the school system to empower the next generation of manifesters.

Here are a handful of our favorite dreamer's dreamboards from Iao Intermediate School.
