DREAMER OF THE MONTH: LESLIE SCHIPPER

Not everyone can handle doing a regular 9 to 5 job. Leslie Schipper thought she could do what she called a “sustainable, reliable, big girl job” and attempted working in an office but could not handle the schedule. After taking break by backpacking through Australia and traveling to Indonesia, she tested out the work schedule again by working in digital marketing for three years and then in account management. But her heart just was not in it.

NRL_1216_Edit_1.jpg

As a “multi-passionate creative,” Leslie studied public relations and communications at Hawaii Pacific University. After realizing her lack of interest in a typical 9 to 5 job, she found herself reviving old passions in photography and writing from childhood. The creative recently transition out of her account management position into a full-time freelancer, focusing on photography and writing as well as modeling occasionally. Based out of Seattle, her work has influenced by the outdoors as she enjoys adventure and outdoor photography. Leslie also wants to start focusing on small business owners and entrepreneurs, specifically women in the creative space, to help support and promote the work that they do.

When she first started her career as a freelancer, Leslie reached out to a lot of photographers who she looked up to and followed, asking them to go out for coffee so she could ask for advice. “I knew it was going to be hard.” She started working on side projects during her 9 to 5 job and ask the people there if she could pick up any more assignments or if they could refer her services to others. “I just wanted to get my name out there.”

Leslie received her first camera as a child and always brought one with her wherever she went and took photos all the time. “It’s a really fun thing to do to express creativity,” she shared. With her writing, the freelancer focuses on health and wellness as well as personal development. She currently writes for a health and fitness coach and also writes about travel including travel guides and outdoor adventures.

“Travel, outdoors, and health and wellness. Those are my grounding, three guiding values.”

“The outdoors is the space where I feel most free and most humbled. I feel very connected and I'm reminded of how small I am and how little of a space I take up in this world. I like that feeling of being small. As a freelancer or someone with a lot of commitments, sometimes you’re just going going going, and you don’t really stop to take in anything. If you live in the city, you’re surrounded by concrete. It’s just getting into fresh air, greenery, and mountains that make me feel so small. I also appreciate the silence; it’s a one big meditation for me.”

Leslie grew up doing a lot of activities and became athletic as she enjoys moving and having a lot of energy. She enjoys backpacking as it feels like carrying one’s home with them. “With backpacking you’re getting deeper into the country and far away from the city and technology. It's the best way to be present.” She even met her husband while hiking the Olomana Trail with a friend. This creative eventually got into yoga and felt that yoga holds the holistic interest in which health and wellness came from. Once she started practicing yoga, she found a whole new appreciation for the body.

Originally from a small town in California called Hollister, Leslie attended junior college in San Jose playing volleyball for the school. Her coach eventually received a coach position at Hawaii Pacific University and gave her a scholarship to attend school in Hawaii. She moved and eventually met Tiare at Tiki’s Bar and Grill where they both worked as hosts. Tiare helped her get involved in modeling and even offered her an opportunity to model in a fashion show. When Tiare did her first workshop at the Fresh Cafe, Leslie attended to support her friend and enjoyed it.

“With Tiare, she asks great questions and she has been doing it for a while that she has extra insight and understanding. When you are in her presence, she asks you questions and she is probing, challenging, encouraging you. I think that’s the major difference between working with her and working on your own. I’m glad that I took her workshop and have worked with her one on one because it is something that has stayed with me. It’s still a practice that I do and is still ingrained in me.”

“One thing that has been helpful for me is that I like to write out a couple intentions first or something that I want to focus on before opening some magazines. I feel that imagery is really powerful and that if you don’t have it in your mind of what you exactly want, and you start opening things, you question if that is what you really want or if it just looks pretty.”

Since her experiences working with Tiare, Leslie has manifested the following:

  1. “I took this picture out of a magazine of a guy sitting in front of a bus and working on his computer. He looks like my husband and right when we started dating, he bought a bus. When I looked back on the picture, I thought, oh my gosh, that looked like Jared.”

  2. Meditation that came into fruition after she cut up a dao meditation. Her yoga instructor got Leslie a yoga teacher to come to Hawaii to do a meditation initiation.

  3. Become her own boss. She put a home office and camera on her dreamboard and surely enough, Leslie’s guest bedroom became her office and she finally got the camera and lens she dreamed of.

“It’s so fun to look back at what I put on my board and the intentions I set, and see how it does actually work, and how it all comes into fruition.”

Now, Leslie wants to focus more on her business and make it sustainable. She wants to focus on uploading and helping promote women entrepreneurs, women creatives and freelancers, anyone going outside of the 9 to 5 work schedule and trying to make something out for their own. “I know how hard it is. I want to help everybody, especially women in particular. I feel like we have a lot to offer and I want to help them get the word out, whether it be their talents, business or gifts.”

DREAMER OF THE MONTH: ROMAN PEARL

With love in the air this February, Roman Pearl shared his experiences helping people with finding a great partner, seeking long-lasting friendships and strong self-love through his business.

IMG_4557.JPG

It all began when he went through a variety of job positions and once he landed a job in construction building homes, Roman realized that he wanted more. The desire made him a door to door salesman, selling construction projects. He became good at the trade and decided to start a company that assists people in strengthening their skill set in selling. Roman has taught people skills for two years now after his peers came to him seeking for advice.

The company, We Achieve Dreams, helps people in achieving their goals and dreams and essentially began to help people with selling but it grew into becoming more. Roman’s clients would ask for advice on meeting their partner in life which, in turn, provided him the inspiration to expand the company. “Selling and dating are really not different at all; making friends, meeting new people. You are either selling something or being sold.” Roman explained that one has to prove to their loved one that they care for them using similar techniques from selling product to sell yourself. “Communication is important.”

“Understand the main purpose of a relationship is to give to another person. You want to get into a relationship with someone that understands that same mindset. My job is to give to you and your job is to give to me without receiving, to give without the thought of I'm going to get something in return. To give with no reciprocation.”

“It’s all about making friends, building confidence in people, and making them see that anything is possible.” Roman’s mission focuses on helping people achieve their dreams, even if it means helping them find the right partner in life. He has created an online course for his company and takes online course, reads books and practices what he personally learned whenever he goes out.

“I teach that the first relationship that you need to build is the relationship with yourself. You need to take care of yourself physically; eating the right food, exercising, and really loving yourself. Next is moving into the mindset of listening to the right people, boosting your self love. The final step is your spirituality, the voices in you saying positive things instead of negative things. So these three steps helps in creating self love.”

Roman came across Aloha Dreamboard when he first began his sales company. He went through a difficult time picking a logo and his friend introduced him to Tiare so he could have a clear sense of how his logo would look like. He ended up going through both the business board and life board a year ago and enjoyed it.

“I was able to connect with more clearly of what I wanted, when it came to my personal and business life. In my personal life, I wanted to be involved in helping a large amount of people accomplish their goals and dreams. That is why I named the company We Achieve Dreams.”

Since his session, Roman has manifested the following:

  1. Roman empowered people by recently becoming a life coach and teaching five older students in a life coaching program for eight weeks.

  2. Because of his life coaching program, Roman received the opportunity to travel for his training to places such as San Diego, Colorado, California and Arizona. “I love traveling to learn and meet new people.”

  3. He attracted great friends and was able to surround himself around really good people.

  4. After becoming so busy with his life, Roman finally took the time to go surfing and now makes an effort to go on a regular basis.

  5. “I manifested the better me.” Started at 250 pounds, Roman is currently working on manifesting his health and wellness goal of weighing 190 pounds or less and has already lost 20 pounds.

“If you are doubtful or have any kind of justifications of why you shouldn’t do a dreamboard, that is evidence that you need to do a dreamboard because any time you begin to justify or defend doing something, you need to realign yourself and go get a dreamboard and be more aligned with your purpose, dreams, and goals.”

As Roman continues to work towards becoming the best person he can become, he also hopes to achieve a $500 profit year in 2018.

Feng Shui Your Office with Clear Englebert

Headshot, Lanai small retouched jpeg.jpg

Feng shui expert Clear Englebert has made feng shui a part of his life for 25 years and has professionally practiced it for over 20 years. He teaches feng shui and has written six books in five different languages to educate individuals around the world how to incorporate it into their daily lifestyle. The feng shui guru initially learned about the practice in the 90’s but at the time, the only feng shui knowledge available to him revolved around birthdays and the cardinal points, north, east, south, west.

“That was the only kind of feng shui that was available and in detail, in the west. In the east there were probably all kinds of feng shui,” Clear explained.

In the 90’s, the other form of feng shui available was known as form school, the oldest form of feng shui based on the flow of energy. This relates to the landform around the home or inside the home as well as the form of the room. Form school can go into detail as far as the location of the room, its window and the furniture inside and whether or not it has a sharp angle or a curve. Form school focuses on the form of things and how that form affects energy.

“For example, imagine a canoe going into water. Imagine how it is shaped, its form lets it go through it. Now imagine a canoe shaped like a rectangle trying to go to the water, what a hard time it would have going into the water. That is what form school is about; how its form affects energy flow.”

Once Clear understood the different ideas of form school, he started practicing it within his own life. His jaw dropped, amazed that everything the book said to do happened. “Whatever the book said was going to happen, happened.” He wanted to spread this to his friends and Clear eventually started practicing feng shui professionally. His first job regarded a lady who owned a bed and breakfast in Waipio Valley. “This is my bread and butter. I go into people’s homes or offices and help them with feng shui. If I didn’t do that, I would write books.” The feng shui expert even moved to the Bay Area because people achieved more success with feng shui there and he wanted to learn more. A lot of feng shui remained in Chinese so Clear needed to learn how to read the language in order to understand what people said about it.

The most interesting aspect of feng shui that fascinates Clear would come from the idea of it having the ability to help people find the love of their life, find the person that is right for them. Feng shui helped him find his husband, along with obtain his own website for free and assistance with writing his first book all within the first year of practicing feng shui. The biggest thing that Clear appreciates comes from the fact that he has a life that he loves living in Hawaii.

“I give credit to paying attention to the energy of furniture around me, the flow and the space in how they are designated in the home. Feng shui basically affected my life in positive ways.”

Clear has seen people take his advice and have prospered from it. “That’s why I do this, I see the results. No matter where you are planted, whatever place you are in, make it so fabulous feng shui wise and the universe will put you into a much beautiful place.” He shares the importance of acting on feng shui; the effect on life will become more profound if you give it about three days after implementing even a small act of feng shui into your life.
