WAIʻANAE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL: Waiʻanae, HI

Why are you interested in receiving an online course scholarship?: I strongly believe in the power of manifestation & encourage my students to dream big everyday. Personal growth begins with the decision to make changes combined with the ability to identify specific goals, and I think Dreamboarding is a great way to do that.

What is your experience with Dreamboarding? Please explain:: I’ve always manifested things into being without being consciously aware of it. I’ve never created a physical Dreamboard but I do journal, discuss, visualize and meditate often, always focusing on my goals/larger vision.

What are your dreams, goals, hopes for the future?: My dreams/goals for the future are to continue to effect positive change amongst our youth through my classroom activities, to grow as an advocate for my students and their needs and to continue to seek opportunities to reach my highest potential as an individual changemaker.

What tools do you use to support yourself in creating dreams, encouraging yourself to pursue those dreams and holding yourself accountable?:Some of the tools I use to support myself in my dreaming include journaling, mediation, visualization and talking with loved ones (for accountability). I hold myself accountable by reflecting on my progress through journaling and discussion.

As a leader in the education system, how do you inspire students to discover their dreams and encourage them to pursue them? What strategy do you use to hold them accountable?: My adolescent students are used to being told what to do, eat, wear and think. In my teaching, I try to give students a lot of room to be their aunthentic selves & discover their individual dreams through our coursework. We use goal-setting and discussion to hold ourselves accountable, and I motivate students using writing prompts and specific data.

What do you hope to gain from our The Art of Dreamboarding course?: From The Art of Dreamboarding, I hope to gain a better understanding of manifestation and how our time and energy can best be used to achieve our dreams. I hope to get a better understanding of how I can facilitate guiding my students in their unique visions without overly directing them.

KE KULA O 'EHUNUIKAIMALINO and KONAWAENA HIGH SCHOOL: Kailua Kona, HI

Why are you interested in receiving an online course scholarship?: I believe it will help me get back on track with what i want for my life. It will inspire me to achieve my dreams and goals as a coach, teacher, and a first time mother.

What is your experience with Dreamboarding? Please explain:: It helps so much to see a clearer vision of what you want. You continue to be inspired looking at it. You are reminded every day. You are determined.

What are your dreams, goals, hopes for the future?: I have always had big dreams. It has been on hold since lately I haven't found what i wanted to do with my life yet. Ever since i got my position as a part time teacher at Ehunui I realized i want to maybe one day open up my own private school for kids. I also am pregnant with my first born and plan to home school him. I want to go back to school but I have so many aspirations i don't know what to do or where to start. I also coach for Konawaena cheer leading program so I am with kids 24/7. I believe if you have a dream and you are aiming for that dream it will inspire these kids which is super important to me. Since i have so much going on in my life already, sometimes i forget what i have to do. Some days i even loose sight in where i want to go in my life.

What tools do you use to support yourself in creating dreams, encouraging yourself to pursue those dreams and holding yourself accountable?: Having a positive mindset even in the worst of days. Reminding myself the affirmations I tell myself everyday. Looking at the world in a more beautiful, openly, welcoming, and loving way. Knowing every decision i make every day effects who i am and what i do in my future. Feeding wisdom and knowledge to my mind, heart, and soul. Being aware that everything i do from here on out is what is going to take me to where i want to be.

As a leader in the education system, how do you inspire students to discover their dreams and encourage them to pursue them? What strategy do you use to hold them accountable?: To continue to love who they are and always accept that their minds and dreams are possibly going to change but to be OK with that. As long as they stay true to who they are and love themselves for who they are then they will one day figure out what their passionate about. Its all mental and spiritual for me. I tell my kids all the time to believe in who they are. Go out and find themselves. Travel, learn different cultures, or stay home. It doesn't matter. Make mistakes but learn from them. If plans and goals change, accept it, let it go, and know that there is possibly something better out there. You will always find a new dream. Go for it.

What do you hope to gain from our The Art of Dreamboarding course?: More inspiration and determination for me. Clarity of what i want to do with my life. I hope that i can take this and use this to teach others in another way to encourage them to follow their dreams. Find a way to help my kids find their path. As well as mines.

Why are you interested in receiving an online course scholarship?: After being reached out to by yourselves on Instagram about this course for teachers I felt very touched and like this project had come at just the right time for me. Despite my Instagram teaching page being full of bright colours and happiness I went through a personal trauma 6 weeks ago when I lost my baby. Along with the loss of the hopes and dreams I had made, I felt like I lost myself. I have struggled to remain focussed on my job as an educator these past weeks and I would love the opportunity to recieve your guidance on how I can refocus my energy and get my love for life and my career back. One of the things you would notice from my Instagram @art_with_mia is how much I adore my job, I want to restore this and pour my heart into it again. I feel like this project would also be amazing for the teenagers I teach in Saudi Arabia who are quite restricted in what they can do and experience here. I would love to encourage them to dream big and see a brighter future for themselves and bring this project into my classroom

Thank you :)

What strategy do you use to hold them accountable?: As an Art teacher I strive to teach children to discover who they are and what they want from life through their Artwork. Why are you interested in receiving an online course scholarship?: During the first quarter of the school year, I teach The Four Agreements and The Alchemist. During these units we explore personal purpose and personal legend. I believe that incorporating a dreamboard into this unit would be priceless. I also focus more of my time on social and emotional health and well being over a strict academic focus because I believe once a student, or teacher for that matter, is socially and emotionally aligned, the academics and intrinsic motivation will follow. During my last quarter with my students, before they transition into high school, I have created a unit to create moral compasses and character quality identification to assist my students in identifying the tools within themselves to create their future by design. This is also a unit I feel that the application of a dreamboard will be incredibly powerful to assist my students in identifying what it is they truly desire in their future, one month from now, one year from now, ten years from now. I believe in the limitless power of visualization to create results!

What is your experience with Dreamboarding? Please explain:: *I have looked it up on Pinterest *I have done makeshift dreamboards during my summer school

What are your dreams, goals, hopes for the future?: Professionally my goal for the future is to increase social and emotional health and well being in my school and community. My personal goal is to increase my social and emotional health, well being, and structures in my personal life and relationships.

What tools do you use to support yourself in creating dreams, encouraging yourself to pursue those dreams and holding yourself accountable?:Increased identification of my intentions for my future and my dreams along with a visual would greatly support me. Doing an activity such as dreamboards along with my students creates accountability for me to share and track my forward movement alongside my students.

As a leader in the education system, how do you inspire students to discover their dreams and encourage them to pursue them? What strategy do you use to hold them accountable?: I focus on project based learning for students to have the opportunity to express and show what they have learned and/or how they have grown during a unit in a way that excites them personally. I have students create their own rubrics for how they will assess themselves and how they intend for me to assess their learning and growth based on their chosen creation/project.

What do you hope to gain from our The Art of Dreamboarding course?: I hope to gain the understanding of how to incorporate dreamboard creation into my social and emotional focus within my classroom. I also hope to gain the knowledge and understanding of how to use a dreamboard to create the greatest results and forward future movement.

I usually make a beginning of the month goal list to refer to. I am also finding new ways to learn by taking classes on skillshare or coursera online and reaching out to people or companies that inspire me.

As a leader in the education system, how do you inspire students to discover their dreams and encourage them to pursue them? What strategy do you use to hold them accountable?: This year I have tried to get my students to also set short term and long term goals in places they will always look - so their phones mostly. For one class I had them set a goal in their phone calendars so it sends them a reminder. This way when it pops up, whether or not they achieved the goal, they can at least remember at one time they set this goal and look at their past actions to see if they worked toward it.

What do you hope to gain from our Mastering the Art of Dreamboarding course?: Again, I hope to gain clarity as well as inspiration.
